Ian's passion is working with people to help them achieve their goals - whether they are personal or work related. He brings energy, flexibility, drive and pragmatism to any situation, underpinned by a dry sense of humour and an ability to truly be with another person, whatever their issues.
Ian has a wide range of commercial and organisational experience having worked in a variety of roles within both the private and public sectors. He has worked as a trainee actuary in financial services, as an internal consultant and project manager in the automotive industry and also as a management consultant in the transport, life sciences, manufacturing, utilities, retail and voluntary sectors. His experience ranges from running a programme to develop high performance teams in all the UK railway maintenance depots, to helping the CEO and board of a public sector utility company establish their key performance measures.
His most recent work has been to help a CEO & his top team shape and then lead a change programme that fundamentally altered the way they view and together run their business. Other engagements include running assessment centres, 1-1 coaching, delivering 'Productive Partnerships' training.
Following his first degree Ian has gained several postgraduate qualifications including NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming) Practitioner and Master Practitioner and Counselling Skills (Level 1). He has also studied the advanced group facilitation technique 'Deep Democracy', which has been used to help resolve conflicts within post-apartheid South Africa. Particular interests are in group dynamics, Transactional Analysis and how individual and organisational beliefs manifest themselves in the workplace.
Outside of work, Ian enjoys volunteering for a local charity, travelling, the performing arts and classic cars.
